Yeah, This place was a ghost town for awhile, but I'm glad people still check in and visit. I want to get this thing going, I never knew this site existed
until I accidently came upon it.
I know what you mean about the master replicas helmet..It looks great on display, but when you put your head in it. It gives the helmet a squishy look. I love the padding though. I been looking on ebay, and found this maker that does star wars helmet padding. I'll ask if they can make a rocketeer helmet padding. How does the mim helmet fit? I been curious if its loose or tight or just right? My head fits fine in the mr version, but its a little to tight for my liking. Buckles update: I havent had time to show my ex gfs grandpa the buckles. Its midterms week, and I been too busy studying. I ll show it to him this weekend. |

Jeff, the one thing I'd suggest that might help is to collapse the forum into just two forums - a general chat and a for sale forum. Until there's more
traffic, dividing the forum up I think hurts it personally. And it can always be split back up when there's enough content and traffic to merit it... Just
my two cents anyway. I appreciate having a place to chat Rocketeer stuff regardless!
Michael, yeah, the padding in the MR is definitely awesome. The original hero helmet liners were actually padded thicker but were pretty close to what you see in the MR. They got that part right I think. I had an MR helmet temporarily. I could barely fit my head in it... I guess I've got a fat head. Good thing my ears don't stick out to far I'd love to have an MR liner to go in an MiM helmet. The pattern might have to be altered slightly for the MiM's size difference but not very much I think. And if it was made with considerably thicker padding, it'd be nearly perfect. I don't think the MR liner would be quite thick enough to properly hold the helmet on your head securely but it also depends on what you plan to do with it. If you're going to be costuming, having it looser would allow it to be a little cooler and more comfortable. For the filming helmet, it was a pretty tight fit not because of the size of the helmet but because of the thickness of the padding. The MiM helmet fits great with the right amount of padding. With no padding, it's too loose on your head obviously. It really is very accurate to the true hero helmet size and shape. I guarantee if you tried one on with the proper amount of padding in it, you'd love it. It should turn with your head just as a motorcycle helmet would - not flop around. The weight of the MiM is much better too. That MR helmet weighs so much it doesn't feel natural... or at least it didn't to me. The MiM version feels much, much better. There's not that feeling of weight from the metal fin that makes you want to constantly tilt your head back so you can move more naturally. There's a guy on ebay that has some buckles for sale and it sounds like he's claiming to have found a source for the buckles... or at least more than one... I don't think the guy would give up his info but from what I remember, it sounded like he found out what they were from or something. If I had the money, I'd buy one... Rob

I have to agree with Rob, the MR is to heavy to costume in I have done some events in it and my neck has ached for days after, Hopefully I'll get the MIM
lid finished soon, and have the MR as a display piece.

The buckles on ebay is Mr. Predicta...There was a guy on this site called rocketbobs years ago that knew almost everything about the rocketeer packs and
costume (i read past forums, took me days to get through). They are friends supposedly. I know they both have buckles. I guess Mr Predicta is selling one of
his.. he has that website moviejackets.com
I'm planning to get the MIM soon, just waiting for an item to clear my credit card. I ordered that special collectors edition of brush with passion by dave stevens which is signed and limited to 200 copies before he died..It's been postponed so many times, and its suppose to come in any day now..I just dont want to charge toomany things to the card in this economy. I'm lucky, I have tiny ears, so my ears didn't get smashed that much, just hated that flatten look. I was planning to get a mim helmet for costuming and for my mannequin. I have a mannequin wearing the jacket and pants. I wanted to get a lighter helmet to display on it. I wish that Irish user was still in this forum. He made an almost accurate helmet liner. I think he only made 3 or four of them. I think even the guy who has that tutorial on the rocketeer pack has one. |

Yes, IrishJedi made great helmet liners. I have personally owned two of them(now down to one). The liner makes the MIM helmet a perfect comfortable fit for me.
I believe he did a run of at least ten helmet liners quite some years ago on the RPF but if I remember correctly it was even more than that.
Thanks for the advice dualedge, I am definitely going to have to tackle the task of making the fin on my MIM bucket accurate. |

I'd love to get one of those buckles... Yeah, I haven't talked to Bob in a while. He's a really nice guy. He always focused on the rocketpacks
whereas I always obsessed with the helmets. He finished at least a couple of those MiM rocketpacks. Man, if I had the money, I'd get him to do me one. He
knows the rocketpacks (replica and original) inside and out.
I've got one of IrishJedi's liners still (Todd was his name I believe). I've been saving it to use in a replica helmet for myself one of these days, particularly since I had to sell my original. Now I'm still obsessed with Rocketeer helmets and don't even have one of my own I did get that Brush with Passion book... just the standard hardcover though. My wife got it for me for Christmas. I didn't even know there was a special edition until you mentioned it. Sounds very cool. Wish I could see what the previously unpublished art is that it includes. I've read the first couple of chapters which is all I've had time for. The art is just beautiful though. Did you guys see this? Haven't seen it mentioned yet: http://www.sideshowtoy.co...ch0109&utm_medium=online Rob |

Bob dissapeared. I notice he dissapeared around 2007 on this site, and I found him on another site, but his last post was in August 2008. I wanted to ask him a
couple of questions regaurding the jetpack. Even his website is down, and says "this is rocketbobs" but nada else.
If you ever decide to get rid of your helmet liner let me know. Todd did a great job on them, and wish I could have gotten one, but he no longer comes around these boards. I wish I would have known this site existed a while back. Rob, was that your helmet on profiles in history auction? I saw a screen used helmet up for sale on that website. I have seen two screen used helmets sold these past couple of years, and a complete stunt costume of the rocketeer which sold for like 35,000. The Two helmets were listed on ebay, and I think both were listed through Profiles in history. One of them was from this big collector that lives in las vegas. He sold his complete stock of movie props which he collected from hundreds of films. And the other must have been you? Sorry to hear that. I'm pretty sure selling it helped you out in the long run. Yeah, I had to search around to find the limited edition of 200 Brush with Passion book. Because the book is dave stevens legacy, and his last work, so I figured they would make an exclusive one that has his autograph. Theres 3 editions. A normal hardcover, a slipcase one with bonus unpublish work which is limited to 2000, and an exlusive one signed on an unpublished drawing of dave stevens which is leather bound limited 200. The exclusive edition is taking forever to come out since the other editions have already been out for months. They said it was because of the leather bound. They postponed it again until March 10. Rob, I'll scan the unpublish work and email them to you when I recieve the book, so you can see them. Yeah, Medicom made the funny looking vcd of the rocketeer. I pre-ordered it once it pop up on sideshow. It says 4th quarter 2009, but i am pretty sure it wont come out until 2010. They postponed the bust again. This was like the 6 month they postponed it. It was suppose to come out in september, than they pushed it back every month which is disapointing. MMaybe you haven't seen this yet, but electric tiki is doing a full sized statue of rocketeer. heres the link http://electrictiki.com/c...%20heroes/rocketeer.html If you want to see another picture, let me know. I have another one saved on my computer that shows a different angle. Michael |

My helmet was the most recent one in Profiles. The other one that Profiles listed from that big name collector was very questionable. I don't know what it
was but it probably was not screen-used and definitely wasn't a hero helmet if it was even a legitimate production helmet. I hope it doesn't sound like
I'm bragging... I don't mean it to. I've very literally obsessed over original helmets for the past ten years.
I owned mine for about 7 years. I never thought I'd see the day when I had to sell it but family finances had to take priority over my "holy grail" of collectibles. There weren't very many screen-used hero helmets made for the production. I've never nailed down an exact number but there probably weren't more than half a dozen of them. The stunt helmets were very different from the hero helmets. 99% of the helmets you see that people claim are screen-used or stunt are totally bogus. The one that I had I actually took out to Los Angeles personally and got the propmaster that worked on the movie to personally inspect it. I got a written letter of authenticity from him. I only know of maybe four original hero helmets in my past ten years of researching them and networking. You said the Electric Tiki statue is full size? You mean life size? That'd be pretty amazing... I'd be happy if I could just put together a nice replica suit like the one Veedox has. Rob |

I know what you mean Rob. I question the big wig collector on his props because I search through all the props he had listed, and some of his props were just
replicas that were listed as screen used props. He had the Dracula helmet from the movie dracula, and it was a replica version just like his maximus swords
from the gladiator...They claimed it was the helmet used in the lothar scene. When lothar goes to secord's house, and the fbi shoot their house. They claim
that the helmet was used in the scene.
I only own one prop from the movie. Disney held a giant auction to cut back on their props. And I was lucky to get one. It is a statue prop used from the scene were jenny wakes up in nevile sinclairs room after she has been unconscious. You can barely see it in the scene but its there. It came with a nice Disney Authenticity, and on the bottom of the prop has writing and seriels numbers from the production crew.. Also, I own a copy of the howard hughes rocketeer blueprints, it was copied from the original prop by the set manager. It came with an authenticity, and i have a disney production paperwork that came with it. Full size as in 12 inches.. Statues come in mini sizes which are from 5-7 inches and full size are 10-12 inches...I wish it was life size. I'm currently making a life size display of the rocketeer. I bought a mannquin, just in the process of completing the costume. I agree, Veedox has a great suit. His suit is my favorite. It is probley one of the most accurate suits I have scene. I like Even's suit, but not a fan of motorcowboys boots..Veedox beats him with his boots. I tried looking at Veedox suit again, but I guess the picture doesnt load anymore on this site. Have you tried putting a suit together? I been trying to put one together, but lately i been telling myself is it worth getting an accurate suit that costs as much as a used car haha..I was going the cheap way but after i saw veedoxs suit, i want to get a more accurate version. If you want to see my suit and my rocketeer items/prop..Visit http://www.myspace.com/therocketeermovie click the view pics under the picture of the rocketeer with the american flag and helmet. Part of my personal collection is under the album my personal rocketeer collection. Theres two pages of pics..I have more items that i havent included but just dont feel like getting them out of their boxes just to take pics Michael PS....I found video footage of the backlot tour that has rockeeter props...if you look closely you can see the statue that cliff tested the rocket on..heres the link, it happens at 37 seconds and at 4.02 are the planes used in rocketeer.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y4B3r0DMyw&feature=related

I actually just bought Veedox's boots. He had them for sale on the RPF and I snagged them. According to the listing they are vintage seventy year old
boots. As far as I can tell from his pictures they are screen accurate in every way. Needless to say I am like a kid waiting for Christmas, I have not been
this excited since I got the email from Predicta saying my jacket had been shipped. I have never liked the look of the Motor Cowboy boots as they just
don't look very accurate to me.

Vintage boots are the coolest. I bought a pair on ebay years ago - looked dead on to what you see in the movie. The only problem was that it turned out they
had dry rot in the leather. I tried to put one on and the seam down the back just ripped open like a zipper being pulled. There was no way to fix it due to the
dry rot unfortunately so I had to get rid of them.
If I were going to buy boots, I think I'd go with IndyMagnoli. His are pretty much dead on. Those motorcowboy boots were cool but they had the wrong type of sole. I don't know if you guys have noticed but the motorcowboy boots use a modern sole. If you compare that to what you see in the movie or to vintage boots - or the boots IndyMagnoli sells - the soles and heels aren't so tall. It makes a difference. Of course, not many folks can afford $500 for a pair of boots. Heck, I'm a pretty hardcore-obsessed fan and I can't afford them. Before I had a kid it was a different story... I had a lot more money to spend on stuff. I don't have a replica suit at all at the moment. I got really into screen-used stuff and for a while I swore off of collecting replicas. But collecting screen-used stuff is 1.) really freaking expensive and 2.) hard to find completely reliable, legitimate screen-used pieces while avoiding scammers and the "I want to believe" collectors. If I had the money and my choice of what to get, I'd go for the Mr. Predicta jacket, Indy Magnoli boots and of course the MiM helmet and rocketpack. I've never studied the johdpurs too much but it seems like the movie pants do have some slight differences to what I've seen anywhere else yet... somebody will probably get it 100% perfect eventually though. Getting a full suit is something I really, really want though. Mainly just to put on a mannequin... I'm a little too heavy to costume much these days. I'm not huge but I feel self-conscious about being a bit heavier than I should be while trying to look as accurate as I would want. My desk job does NOT help the situation. Michael, I know exactly which statue you're talking about that you have. That's very cool! I'm sure I've got pictures of it if it's the one I'm thinking of. I've owned a lot of tidbits from the movie. The only really, really significant piece was the hero helmet. It was my only real "claim to fame". My helmet, by the way, was matched definitively to the duck pond sequence and to some blue screen fx work. It was probably used more but it's only recognizable in photos related to those scenes. I always referred to it as the "duck pond" helmet for that reason. It's the one Cliff is wearing when he's sitting in the duck pond and Peevy runs up to him. One thing I still have is the wristwatch that Cliff wore in the movie. It was a vintage watch owned by the propmaster. Bill Campbell asked if he could wear it in the movie. So, after I met the propmaster, he decided to sell it to me. It's barely seen in the movie but it's cool because it's a "one and only" type of thing. There weren't several versions like is usually the case with costumes and props. I've had and sold several nice set decoration photos from the Bulldog Cafe and stuff like Air Circus programs, South Seas Club menus and other lesser odds and ends. Actually one of my personal favorite items that I've still got is a fairly minor set of pieces. I've got these three prototype helmet fins from when they were trying to figure out how big the fin should be and how it should be shaped. There were four originally but I missed one that I believe was sold to somebody in Japan... probably never to be seen again so my set will forever be incomplete. What totally, totally sucks is that when Disney first started having their massive Rocketeer auctions in 2000/2001, I had heard rumors at work that there were going to be layoffs. I was afraid to buy anything for fear I was going to lose my job... and I did as it turned out. I missed out on SO much stuff during those auctions. But such is life. I scored my (now "ex") helmet a couple of years later. Thanks for the explanation on the statue thing. The only statue I've ever bought was the standard issue Bowen Rocketeer statue (unfortunately not the nice bronze one with the marble base.) But I'm really hoping to get a replica costume put together eventually. I just wish there was a source for a really accurate harness... I've made chin straps for helmets but the harness thing is a little out of my skillset I think. Rob |

Yeah, I like vintage boots, but I prefer something new especially since i plan on wearing the costume from time to time. Not sure how vintage old boots may
hold up ..I tried looking at indy boots the other day but their site was down due to remodeling. Also, veedox's boots were way to small for my feet. I wear
size 12 shoe and planning to get a size 12.5 or 13 to have it be a little loose since boots are so dam tight...
I missed out on a bunch of props of the rocketeer. I was lucky to just get one..I had a chance to get a bulldog cafe model but i decided to save my money....If i had to choose one prop from the movie. It would be the bigalo statue that cliff used to test out the rocketpack or a life size bulldog cafe replica.. I agree with you Rob, predicta jacket and mim helmet and pack.. I'm not sure on the boots though. That is the last thing on my list to get is the boots. The harness is a pain in the butt to get since i lack in that category. I know two people trying to make them..Mr predicta is in the works of making one, and south beach leather is trying to make one.. I have the standard bowen as well and a prototype master replicas statue which i got by luck.. I had a chance to buy the marble statue/ bronze statue but I chose to buy the buckle instead...I already have the regular version..No point paying so much for a statue if I have the cheaper version..Also, I want to lay off buying the small stuff, and start buying stuff to make my life size rocketeer mannequin..its overdue..but at same time i find it hard to spend so much cash where it can go to more essential things I bought a rocketeer topps card box today for 5 dollars at this weekly convention in cali...i got a bunch of cards of cliff in the duck pond wearing ur helmet... There was a bigalo program prop on ebay the other day, but i decided not even to bother...I couldn't tell if it was accurate or not.. I want to avoid the copies... I know what you mean by having kids...My brother is a big star wars fan and sold most of his collection when he had a kid....My rocketeer collection is my kid, so i dont have to worry about that anytime soon haha Michael |

I still need to get better boots, Magnoli's boots look good. I called ALL of America looking for brown field boots... trust me, they are HARD to find.
And more are too tall, but you can used them in a pinch like I had to end up doing for Halloween. But I got stuck with black because ALL of the brown boots
were custom orders. You can get a pretty cheap pair here:

I was a little bit nervous about buying vintage too as I do not want them to fall apart on me. But according to Veedox's description they are in really
good shape and should hold up for costume wear. I also have a really great shoe repair shop that I do business with and his specialty is restoring vintage
shoes and boots so I can enlist his services if the boots need some work. I have been thinking about getting him to do the harness for me as well because from
what I can tell from his leather work outside of footwear he would be the perfect guy for the job.
I have some collectibles but my main focus is on putting together the full costume as well as a mannequin to display it on. Most of the collectible stuff that I have was purchased purely for reference purposes for the full sized costume I am working on. |

When I first started collecting rocketeer memorbilia, I never pictured my self building a full body costume..I started collecting the limited edition and one
of a kind stuff. I didn't think it was possible due to the jacket (I wanted a close to accurate one). Now since abby, south beach, wested, and predicta
made jackets, I became more interested in putting the costume together. I have the south beach, but the best jacket I have seen in person is the Predicta
Jacket. It is amazing. And looks like an accurate rocketeer jacket especially with the color compared with the rocketeer props i saw in burbank. Only jacket I
havent seen in person is the wested. I can't wait to get my costume finished...I'm planning to go to the griffith observatory and take pictures..Also
in los angeles theres a replica bulldog cafe that I plan on taking pictures in front of it...Its pretty cool thing to see in person...Ill include a photo

Michael, you mean Lucky Lindy (the statue of Charles Lindberg)? If you're into that, I can't help you out with the life size version but I've got
the next best thing... something I was thinking of parting with actually. Just email me at dualedges@yahoo.com
Haven't had time to catch back up on the conversation... I don't spend much time online on the weekends due to family stuff requiring a lot of my time. Rob |

Thats awesome that you spend time with your family. I know horrible dads that want nothing to do with their kids. I was second in command at a youth center
(but due to economy our program was cut by the city since it was city operated), and it is sad to see kids get neglected by their parents..My staff paid closer
attention to the kids that were neglected. If their parents didnt show attention, than we would make up for it and be interested in their kids lives but its
not the same. Some people just dont deserve kids..
Yeah, I believe thats the same statue...The one that gets its head crack open... I wonder what happened to it...I wish they kept a better track of their props..I know the bulldog cafe was in the mgm studio tour until they yank it...I know the airplanes are still there...And I know a full costume is at the burbank studio here in los angeles..They wouldnt let me take pics when i saw it...But a replica bulldog cafe is in a museum in los angeles..I know a person that owns the zeplin door/ hatch....Its huge and has the lucky number 7 on it.. looks cool, but a couple of things are a little wonky- the guys neck is friggen long, helmet looks a tad small, and the fin looks too tall at the front,
what's up with all the fabric folds in the jacket, and the top of the bib looks weird considering that center button is not supposed to attach to the
jacket, that's where the zipper is. What size waist is that guy supposed to have, sheesh! From that angle the pack looks to be a bit small and the tips of
the rockets need to be painted. How big is this figure? Is it supposed to be similar to the stop motion puppet? Any idea when it's going to be release or
price?
